King of Hearts

I first got the idea for this piece the other night while I was watching Grey's Anatomy. A lady's heart actually caught on fire during open heart surgery, and I thought.... hmmmm..... what an interesting picture that would make. Then I thought.... what if I played off of the traditional image of the Sacred Heart only had a human anatomical heart instead of a stylized heart. Then I took it a step further and decided to make the whole piece an alternative, more forbidding version of the King of Hearts, and this is what I came up with. The model for this piece is my very own true love ~whiskeypriest and the images used to create the heart and the flames are from clipart.com.
