The Storm Keeper by wolfmorphine The Storm Keeper by wolfmorphine
I have been working on this idea off and on for quite awhile now. It contains two of my least skilled areas of expertise when it comes to artistic depiction.... water, and man-made objects of transportation..... but they are two types of subjects I would really like to get better at. Photos used for helpful reference include one of the lovely ~dani-stock for the goddess and two from ~gothika-stock for the tall ships. Some photo reference found at clipart.com was also used for the ocean to keep myself from going completely crazy.

The subject matter here goes back to my beloved mythological world. I love the idea of people honestly believing real beings cause such things as squalls at sea. This sea goddess keeps the storms contained in her magical amphora and causes squalls at her whim by pouring its contents into the sea itself. When her hair blows in the winds, it causes lightning to flash and thunder to roll.

She is such a beautiful and mighty goddess. I think people relating beings to Gods and Goddesses to nature, is a way of feeling in control or not quite so intimidated by the overall force of nature and how small we really are......

Very true. Those are exactly the aspects of goddesses that appeal to me.
