Ack... I really do stay away from here for so much longer at a time than I should. For that I apologize. Nevertheless, I do really need to express how pleased I always am when I stop by to check mail and comments to see that I also still get frequent visitors to this page despite the fact that I've been MIA for the most part. You are all so decent and good to me. I value your attention and support more than you probably realize.

Work really demands a lot of me these days, as do family and personal obligations. What are you going to do when life intrudes, right? As far as what else has been going on with me recently, I moved from Montana back to my beloved Northern California over the summer and can definitely say that spending life back where I feel I truly belong has been rather nice. I'm around my mother again, which has been wonderful. I'm also close to the ocean once more. As a Pisces, I need the water nearby whenever possible... and whenever possible, I like it to be the ocean. It's already been working on me and helping me feel more creative, which has been a total blessing -- just like coming home ought to feel. Below is a picture taken at Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey where I live.

I've also been working very, very hard on my business, Shannon Hilson Creative. My professional writing career has really taken off and taken up a lot of my time, but I'm hardly complaining. I absolutely adore most of my clients and feel incredibly honored that they would choose me to help them with their advertising copy or web content building projects. I've gotten to write about so many things that I'm passionate about (finally a use for all my extraneous knowledge) and it's left me feeling overwhelmingly useful and fulfilled. I am so excited about my future, my friends. This, along with my artwork, is what I was born to do.

The other amazing thing about California is that I've been getting back in touch with a lot of the things I missed about my past. I've started playing music again (above is me playing my baby-grand piano). I've also been getting back in touch with my pagan spiritual beliefs. The last home where I lived involved people who were incredibly intolerant of my personal belief system for reasons I won't even attempt to get into here. That left me feeling like I wasn't at liberty to be open and free with my religious practices. However, that's all over with now. I'm once again free to celebrate my beliefs however I please and as openly as I choose.

I have art to make about all of these experiences and am looking forward to doing that soon. In the meantime, I am getting ready to attempt NaNoWriMo again this November. My novel this year is called Prophet Birds and is a project I'm very excited about. There is also a cover concept I'm working on and will make available for viewing in my gallery. It will be a print offered in my shop as well, so if you've been chomping at the bit to see new personal work from me, this should make you very happy.

In the meantime, you can always follow my linkage via my web links or header links here and catch up with me other places. When I'm not actively making personal artwork, I'm not around this place much. However, I always remain active on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Blogger, and LiveJournal. You're always welcome to stop by or add me to your contact lists there. In the meantime, take care! I will be by to chat with you again very soon.
